I agree with NEtech on the Airbag controller. I believe someone installed a used Airbag controller based on that old part number in addition to WSC , Importer and Equipment number details.
Ross Tech does not offer assistance for installing used airbag components but more importantly - it sounds like you want to fix this vehicle.
After the proper controller is installed and coded you will be able to determine if that DTC requires further investigation. Although I would expect an implausible or resistance type of DTC rather than Open or Short to Plus you may not have an actual issue with the belt receptacle due to the incorrect 15 control module.
Jul 22, 7. The owner said the airbag module came from an identical Eos convertible. He said it does not have a battery in the luggage compartment. Does the battery igniter code mean I'm being misinformed on other vehicle? Is this correct?
If so.. Right into the slot for the seatbelt? There was no discussion i could find about how this would work out or be attempted. Is this a dealer-only item? I have no idea if that is the correct part no pic or part. How should I proceed? Go to the dealer and get a part number relative to my VIN? Also, what do they mean by "check measuring value blocks"?

Several people have had airbag codes for the only reason as the plugs were a little weird and with some dielectric grease the problem is solved. That fixed my brothers car on a different air bag.
There's a yellow 4 pin plug under the seat which goes to the seatbelt buckle. Here's how I decided it wasn't the connector: 1. Open up the measuring block for the Air Bag system. This airbag fires when there is a side on collision and prevents injury to the front passengers by stopping them from crashing into each other.

However looking at the schematics we can see that the interior motion sensor is overhead and that the little bump is in fact a temperature sensor. The schematics show that the ID3 has a chip card reader in the second cup holder component 2 in front center console.
If this hardware is in the 1st edition cars then it infers that VW will push an update some time in the future that will allow you to start the car using a RFID card instead of having the key with you all the time. If this hardware is not in the 1st edition perhaps this is something VW will look to offer in future editions of the ID3.
The front camera and sensor cluster on the windscreen has its own little windscreen heating system. This should prevent any snow or ice blocking the view from the camera. While there is not official support for retrofitting the inductive phone charger, the part is orderable and I think lots of people will mod their ID3 to add in support for the inductive charger.
